On Friday, police raided rapper DMX’s Phoenix home. In the raid, police uncovered numerous firearms and 12 distressed pit bulls, which were taken from the home. The rapper was not home during the raid. According to the sheriff’s department, the initial search warrant that allowed them to go into the home dealt with animal neglect. The police are unsure if the dogs were used for fighting or not though the neglect was apparent and is without question. The animals that were removed from the home are now in the care of the Sheriff’s Department.
Currently, no arrests have been made in conjunction with the raid. However, there are ongoing investigations that will determine in what if any charges will be brought up and who will face them. While this may seem out of the blue, animal cruelty charges are nothing new to the nearly 40 year old rapper. In 2002, he pleaded guilty in an animal cruelty case in New Jersey. In that case, he was charged with neglecting 13 pit bulls. Part of his sentence had him doing PSAs against animal abuse. Isn’t that ironic?

Amy Winehouse showed up in a British newspaper bruised, bloody, and looking all messed up. At this point it is hard to say what happened. Some are claiming a fight with her hubby and others are saying that the wounds were self-inflicted. The photos were taken Thursday morning and offer a smeared make-up look over all of Winehouse’s face along with bloody shoes, and bruises to her neck. She also had bandages on her arms.
Winehouse says that reports that her husband did this to her are false. Perez Hilton is reporting that she sent him text messages stating the following message:
“Blake is the best man in the world. We would never ever harm each other. I was cutting myself after he found me in our room about to do drugs … and rightly said I wasn’t good enough for him. I lost it and he saved my life.”

In what appears to have been an accident, director John Singleton (Boyz N The Hood, Poetic Justice, Shaft) struck a jaywalker who strolled in front of his Lexus SUV on Friday. Singleton was a model citizen during the entire event. He stopped and waited for police to arrive, identified himself, and answered questions.
Officers at the scene determined that he was not under the influence of any drugs or alcohol. After questioning, Singleton was released. The woman jaywalking, Constance Russell, was pronounced dead that same morning.
No other details have been released though our thoughts are with him and his family during this trying time.
