Lance Bass is currently in New York City performing on Broadway as Corny Collins in Hairspray. Bass was interviewed by New York Magazine and is claiming that the interview has parts of it that were completely different than what he told the reporter.
People reports that Bass writes on his Myspace page, “This dumb reporter just put words in my mouth and turned everything I said into a negative. I told her I love NY and I will probably be doing the bi-coastal thing now because I love it so much.”
New York Magazine told People Magazine that they stand behind their reporter and make a joke of it on their blog. They welcomed Lance to NYC even though they claim that he never mentioned that in the interview.
Other discrepancies according to Lass include the following:
When speaking of his apartment hunting experiences the article states the following. “There’s a lot of pieces of crap here for a lot of money,” he was quoted as saying. “And I don’t think anyone here has any style.” However Lance claims that he said this, “I told her the first few apartments I looked at were pieces of crap and the owners had no style at all… that turned into ‘Lance thinks New Yorkers have no style!’”
Next he spoke about JT’s BBQ joint in the city. The claim goes something like this. “I’ve been a few times,” he says. “But it’s really up there. The Upper East Side? I’m not in college anymore.” Again, Lance says this claim is false.
On his Myspace page he says the following: “I eat at Justin’s new place all the time, but it is really far away in the Upper East Side and always full of a college crowd. She turned that into ‘Lance doesn’t go to Justin’s restaurant cause its too far away and he doesn’t like it because he is not in college anymore!’ Um…I didn’t go to college, why the hell would I say that!”
