First it’s the “cripples” (as he called them), then the women who are “producing machines who bring babies into the world”, and now it’s the F…homosexuals. Regardless of the repeated slips of the tongue, Jerry wants you to know he’s sorry. Again. No really. He’s seriously sorry this time.
“I obviously made a bad choice of words. Everyone who knows me understands that I hold no prejudices in this regard,” Lewis said in a statement. “The success of the (telethon) and all the good that will come from it shouldn’t be lost because of one unfortunate word. I accept responsibility for what I said. There are no excuses. I am sorry.”
Considering all the hard work volunteers do to ban together and help those in need, I agree with Lewis on one thing. The actions of one idiot should not reflect on the entire organization. However, that being said it’s time to put him in a home and replace him with someone that understands compassion for those paying his travel bill, something that the MDA and the telethon money they receive does.
