When Michael Vick stood up on August 28 to give a press conference it was expected that he would say he was wrong and he was sorry. After all, the day before he pleaded guilty to dog fighting charges and he wanted to seem sincere. Now it’s likely that he’s learned one thing from this event. The lesson is that when you leave a podium you should take your cheat sheet with you.
Vick had six options according to his cheat sheet including.
1. Apologize for what I’ve done
2. Apologize to coach and team
3. Tell young kids that “I acted immature”
4. Ask for forgiveness and understanding
5. Take full responsibility for actions
6. Remind others that we all make mistakes
At that point he must have felt that he ran out of room because on the side he scribbled an afterthought, “dogs have suffered.” Unfortunately, when he left the stage, hoping that he made a good impression, he left his sheet and it was discovered by a member of the Humane Society. Wayne Pacelle, a blogger for the organization watched a video of the speech. On his blog he says, “For some reason, he didn’t get to the dogs, of which he inflicted such tortures.”
According to TMZ, the note has since been put up for auction on Ebay with plans of the proceeds going to the Animal Cruelty Response and Reward Fund.
