The last time anyone heard from Haley Joel Osment was when he was getting his mug shot taken and suffering a broken rib as a result of a DUI involving alcohol and marijuana. After pleading no contest he seemed to fall off the face of the earth. TMZ has found him though and he seems to be alive and well. They found him wandering the campus of NYU, where he is a college sophomore.
Osment told the TMZ photographer that he has a couple of movies lined up this year. You can expect to see him in Home of the Giants, where he plays Robert “Gar” Gartland, a high school journalist drug into some serious stuff with a friend who is a star athlete and a drug dealer who expects him to throw a game. This is one of two movies that have already wrapped up filming. The second film, Truth and Treason examines the human struggles for freedom during WWII and Nazi Germany.
Osment was put on probation and had to complete 60 hours of rehab, and six months of AA. While he is still serving probation, it’s nice to hear that he’s back into movies and seems to be doing well in school. It’s nice to see someone not screwing up for once.
