TMZ has reported that the president of PETA, Ingrid Newkirk sent View moderator, Whoopi Goldberg an email that details her opinion of Whoopi’s statement on her first day of The View. For those who missed it, on the show, Goldberg defended Vick’s actions concerning his dogfighting enterprise.
In the email, Newkirk told Goldberg, “I think a lot of people who live and work in the South — as PETA does — will not appreciate the “view” that cruelty to dogs is an accepted Southern pastime.”
This is something that a few of our commenters have also mentioned and rightfully so. However, Newkirk goes on to say, “Those who fight dogs do so in New York, Chicago, and even the Republic of Ireland, and what unites them is lawlessness and callousness, not whether they eat grits or Belgian waffles for breakfast.”
Newkirk also gave Goldberg a little bit of sound advice when it comes to animals and moderating as the voice of the people on The View. “Animals are as vulnerable to abuse as children are, and they need your voice more than Vick does right now.”
Since this email, Goldberg has entered day two on The View and has said that she was in no way condoning the actions of Michael Vick. Of course, based on what she said originally, many people are having a very hard time believing what she is saying.
