Avril Lavigne is too humble for Words

Avril Lavigne Avril Lavigne was interviewed recently for Q Magazine. I can see where a celebrity might have an inflated self-ego, but this is a bit ridiculous. It seems that Avril’s biggest fan is herself and with as highly as she speaks of herself I don’t think she will ever be dethroned as her own biggest fan. It’s almost sad how great she thinks she is. Don’t get me wrong. She isn’t horrible, but with as great as she thinks she is you could see her writing her own reviews. “I just listened to my album and WOW! I blew myself away.”

Check out what Avril had to say about her success and see what you think.

“Selling 24 million albums hasn’t really affected me, but it has changed things. I can’t walk into a room full of people any more without everybody turning their heads, and I can only eat in certain restaurants where I know I won’t get hassled. But that’s OK. I was born to do this, and so I’ve learned how to cope.”

Is anyone else rolling their eyes here? Give me a break. Plenty of celebrities have far more fans, are better at what they do, and yet they manage to go out and do whatever they want. Of course, as she was born to do this, perhaps she sees herself in a different class.

She goes on to mention other musicians.

“Someone like Kelly Clarkson is beautiful and has a pretty voice, but with me you get a much stronger image. I’m tough, I have a look that girls want to copy, and I sound a particular way. It’s good if you’re not easily ignored. And I’m not.”

Okay, she is seriously kidding right? Girls want to copy her? I haven’t been in high school for 10 years, but back in the day there were plenty of those poser punk girls that acted “tough”. Of course, they managed to do it just a little bit better than Avril claims she does.

She went on to blather about her generosity in relation to Hurricane Katrina.

“When the hurricane thing happened, I went to my closet, filled six boxes of stuff and said to my assistant, ‘Take it to Katrina!’ I also like to give stuff to people who are my ‘workers,’ especially if they don’t make much money.”

First, I have to wonder if she gave them her clothes just so she could later claim someone is off trying to copy her unique sense of tough girl style. Furthermore, with all those albums sold you would think she could have done more. Sean Penn was in an effin boat saving people on rooftops, although, I am sure her six boxes of clothing lit the way for schoolgirls wanting to be punk, all through the South.

Next, if they are her workers and don’t make much money, why not pay them more? That would be totally generous.

This was one of the most impressive interviews I have seen in a long time. I would be embarrassed if I said this shit about myself. Of course, us haters are losers anyhow, according to Avril, so what would we know anyway?
