The nominations for the best video were all completely new to me. I will admit that I do not normally watch videos. I like to blame MTV for that since they don’t really even play videos anymore. However, there is a category for best video and apparently people are still making them.
The songs/videos and artists nominated were:
Beyonce - “Irreplaceable”
Justice - “D.A.N.C.E.”
Rihanna f/ Jay-Z “Umbrella”
Justin Timberlake “What Goes Around…Comes Around”
Kanye West “Stronger”
Amy Winehouse “Rehab”
The winner of the Best Video of the Year is Rihanna and the winning video is listed here for to take a listen to if you like.
On a side note, Mary J Blige had a lot of good things to say about the amazing, Dr. Dre who presented the award. When he got on the stage he informed everyone that Detox is coming, so stay tuned. No doubt it will be one of the hottest albums of the year when it does come out. Until then he just offered up the award for Video of the Year. As for Rihanna, she was shocked and feeling good. She congratulated everyone and said this one was the most important award for her.
