Britney Screwed Herself: VMA Drama

Britney Spears has no one to blame but herself for her performance on the VMAs. While commenters here and around the web can blame Sarah Silverman or any other number of things, in the end it was Britney who chose to screw up her career and she did a mighty fine job of doing just that.

It is incredibly hard to take someone’s career seriously when it is obvious that they do not even do that. It is being said that Brit Brit showed up to rehearsals several hours late, unwilling to cooperate, and with a drink in her hand. Brit was supposed to be in Las Vegas and prepared for rehearsals by 1 PM on Saturday, but according to Page Six Spies, “She didn’t even get to Las Vegas until 4:30 p.m.” The spy goes on to say the entire thing was “ridiculous”.

MTV and people that seem to have more control in the business seem to finally be getting the hint. “The production people at MTV were freaking out…Nobody can tell Britney what to do anymore. No one can control her. She is a mess.”

When it comes to Britney finally arriving in Las Vegas, she did not rush to rehearsal despite being as late as she was to Las Vegas. “She went to her hotel room and ordered a bunch of food and some frozen margaritas. She came down, like, an hour later with a frozen margarita in her hand.”

The spy claims that the dance number was amazing. The problem is that it was only amazing with the stand-in performing the act. “Britney showed up and refused to do anything. The dancers were supposed to lift and twirl her in the air a few times, and that just wasn’t going to happen. The more complicated dance moves had to be erased because she couldn’t do them.”

To make matters worse, Britney had issues with the corset-style outfit that MTV had selected for her to wear. While Britney has been blasted for the weight she has gained in the last year, this outfit would have covered much of that up. However, “she hated it and didn’t think it was sexy enough.” Wanting to do her own thing, she chose the bra and panty outfit that she had actually brought with her.

Meanwhile, even the dancers knew this performance was going to flop. The spy says, “The dancers were texting pals, asking them to pray for them. They were worried.”
