When I think Bob Barker, I think Plinko and the scene were he beats the hell out of Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore. I usually don’t think about a sexist, racist kind of guy. However, someone seems to think that Bob Barker isn’t just sunshine and rainbows. He’s a jerk.
On October 4, a lawsuit was filed against Barker for wrongful termination and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The lawsuit was filed by Deborah Curling, a CBS employee who claims that Barker is guilty of sexual harassment and racial discrimination, which made the work environment incredibly hostile.
CelebTV is reporting that Curling and other employees (according to Curling) were “exposed to sexual and mental harassment, abuse, and racial discrimination. Defendant Barker created an atmosphere of terror on the show, as a result of which any employee who complained about the working environment or contradicted Barker was fired.”
This is not the first time Barker has been sued for these issues. In 93, Dian Parkinson, a Price is Right model sued Barker for sexual harassment. The model wanted $8 million, but later dropped the charges. Holly Halstrom, another model, complained in 95 stating that she was fired because she would not lose weight. In the Halstrom case, the girl walked away with $3 million.
I don’t know if a fat model deserved $3 million. After all, most models are generally thin in nature. I don’t recall ever seeing a pudgy Price is Right model so she should have known the consequences of her Doritos. The other girls may or may not have a reason to complain. I suppose the dirt will come out. It always comes out in the end.
