Hayden Panettiere’s Arrest Warrant

It’s starting to look like Hayden Panettiere really is a hero. The popular ‘Heroes’ actress participated with other activists in trying to protect dolphins at a dolphin hunt off the coast of Japan. Now, there has apparently been a warrant issued for Hayden’s arrest. Still, the young actress said she’d do it again, to try and protect the dolphins.

Trouble began for Panettiere in October when she and other activists paddled their surfboards out in the sea to try and protect a pod of dolphins from fishermen attempting to kill them. On their way to the pod, they were stopped by a fishing boat and a man who kept thrusting a metal pole at them. The dolphins, widely believed to be the most peaceful and kind mammals in the sea, were slaughtered and Hayden appeared on television looking disheveled and crying. Further fueling the debate is the supposed health risks or lack of benefits that come from dolphin meat (it is high in mercury, which can be quite harmful). Still, fishermen say there is a market for the meat and a tradition behind the hunt.

Hayden was initially glad her presence at the hunt drew such International attention, pointing out normally, to get such attention in Hollywood you have to ‘take of your panties’. Was that a Britney diss? Ouch!

TMZ reports Hayden as saying (in response to news of her arrest warrant):

“Obviously this issue has generated defensive behavior on the part of both the Japanese Authorities and Fishermen. I have grown up hearing – and adhering to – this phrase: ‘condemnation without investigation dooms one to everlasting ignorance.’ We must unite as a world to solve our increasing international environmental crises. We can no longer hide behind out-dated, senseless cultural traditions and lazy, bad habits that are resulting in the annihilation of our planet’s resources and the extinction of our species. As a spokesperson for the ‘Declare Yourself’ campaign, I encourage everyone – particularly young people – to educate themselves on the candidates and their positions on environmental issues. Every generation has its own challenge; this is the challenge of our generation.”
