Favorite Female Artist:
Martina McBride
Taylor Swift
Carrie Underwood
Winner: Carrie Underwood
I am glad she won, but I wasn’t happy to see this outfit again. She looks so hot though I ignored it. She was very thankful for her win, thanking the fans, AI, and the gang. She was really quick, which is nice, of course they can’t take too long anyway, because the music starts running after like 2 minutes.
Favorite Album:
Tim McGraw/Let It Go
Rascal Flatts/Me and My Gang
Carrie Underwood/Some Hearts

ADULT CONTEMPORARY MUSIC
Favorite Artist:
Daughtry
Norah Jones
John Mayer
Winner: Daughtry
Yeah, I saw this one coming. I mean, they are hot and Chris can sing. His voice gives me chills on occasion. I am really glad to see him winning all these awards. The Cinderella story is nice to see every once in awhile. I bet he’s happier than hell that he didn’t win American Idol. Chris seemed shocked, he didn’t know who to thank so the band got a chance. They thanked wives, kids, and Duran Duran.

What They Sang: Home
What They Wore: They were wearing clothes. Black clothes.
Performance Value: This is the first time Daughtry has performed on the AMAs. I’m sure it won’t be the last time. They did an acoustic version of the song Home with a set of violinists and a cellist in the background. Chris’ voice is awesome and he sounded great. They had a little table set up with the three awards they won and it was up on stage with them. The version was awesome with the backup and just Chris singing. They were the band to close the show performance wise at the 2007 AMA awards. It makes sense, considering the best selling album and the way they have taken the music scene by storm. I look forward to seeing these guys in concert. Feel free to send tickets.

What She Sang: I Know Where I’ve Been
What She Wore: A black dress. Queen Latifah was all about the classic beauty look, as usual.
Performance Value: Whether you like bigger women or not, Queen Latifah is just gorgeous. She’s got nice hair, good fashion sense, and she’s not a bad singer either. She’s one of the most multitalented women in the limelight these days. The song, which was performed in Hairspray, as well is a classic tune that needs good vocal ability to sing. Ever since Chicago, Queen Latifah has steered from hip hop and been using her voice to sing some pretty amazing music. She sounded great all the way around and the orchestra behind her didn’t sound too bad either.

What She Sang: Just Fine
What She Wore: Tight black shirt, pants, waist cinching belt, and thigh high boots. She was doing the sun glasses, too.
Performance Value: Mary J was looking simplistic, I don’t know if she was going into witness protection after her performance or she just wanted to be simple tonight. The song was performed well. It came off her new hit album. Rihanna liked it. When they showed her in the audience, she was dancing in her chair and singing along. It’s not my favorite Mary J song, but it wasn’t all that bad. She had a band behind her and was solo on stage. It was funny to watch the audience because they always panned to the one guy that happened to be dancing in his section. It was a good performance overall.

Beyonce was the first female artist to win the special artisan award. This is an award that has only been given to a handful of performers including Aerosmith and the Bee Gees. She deserves it though. She gives good performance. Usher was on hand to give out this special award, calling Beyonce special, he mentioned how her voice touches millions and her smile could light up the room.
Beyonce came on stage and seemed ready to cry. To receive an award like this at under 30 years old, it had to be an amazing feeling. She received a standing ovation. She was smiling and tearing up at the same time as she thanked her former band, Destiny’s Child, her father, and of course, the fans.
The Artisan award is an International award that is not given out lightly. Only the best of the best receive this special recognition.

What They Sang: Falling Down & Hungry Like the Wolf
What They Wore: Black Dresses. Okay, it was just black jackets and jeans. Got your attention though didn’t I?
Performance Value: Falling Down is the song that Justin Timberlake worked on. If you’ve seen the video it contains the Britney Spears rehab experience. The starlet going to rehab, leaves the hospital, and starts drinking in the parking lot of rehab. The song is amazing. Duran Duran has been around forever so the fact that they still keep coming out with hits is some real encouragement for the younger talent in the audience. There is nothing to complain about here. The song was rocking, the vocals were spot on. These guys are great entertainers all around.

What They Sang: Kiss Kiss
What He Wore: Chris had on a black and white suit that glowed in a black light. It was some hot shit. I like a man who gives good show.
Performance Value: I was just waiting for Chris to rip his outfit off like a stripper. It looked a little bulky. I couldn’t help but think he had something hiding underneath. No comments please. Chris might only be 18, but you can see why he is one of the hottest commodities in club/hip hop music these days. This song was hot. The dancers weren’t half bad either. T-Pain was included in this and got some rapping in during a little interlude. Hip Hop performances are always fun because they actually perform. At the end they were hooked to wires so they could dance on upside down above the stage. It was fly.

What They Sang: Irreplaceable
What They Wore: They were all wearing black.
Performance Value: Beyonce came out and sang with Sugarland. I figured this was gonna happen. I have to say it was amusing to see Irreplaceable go Country. B sounds amazing live. Anyone who was watching or that has seen her live should know that much. Sugarland held their own, too. This was my first experience with them. They win awards (or at least that’s what someone said) and I can see why, even though I am not a huge Country aficionado.
Star Value (1 = Worst, 5= Best): 4

What They Sang: Won’t Go Home Without You
What They Wore: Suits and ties and various variations, depending on who we are talking about in the group.
Performance Value: I love Maroon 5 and have since they came out a few years ago. Maroon 5 usually sounds good enough to make you think they are lip synching. This isn’t one of my favorite songs from their newest album, but I like most of them enough to sit here and listen to them while I write all this. So far, they were one of the better performances of the night. Maroon 5 and Fergie currently have top honors, but I am anxiously awaiting Daughtry. My advice: if the AMAs are any indication of what concerts could sound like, go see Maroon 5 live, it’d be well worth the tickets.

What They Sang: Take Me There
What They Wore: The majority were in shirts and dress pants or jeans. Nothing spectacular, but they are guys. What are they gonna do?
Performance Value: I am not a huge Country fan (unless you count in the closet when Dom isn’t looking). That being said I am not that familiar with Rascal Flatts but I know every other Country fan on the planet is. They are huge. The song wasn’t bad. It was performed well, but at the same time I am not running out to buy this CD either. It beat the hell out of Avril’s performance though, that’s for sure. They are all trying to be rockers for being Country boys, but that’s cool, they sounded pretty good.

What She Sang: Baby Love (damn, I’ve never heard this one either)
What She Wore: She had her hair back and a scoop-line dress that was slightly longer in the back. It was a little off the shoulder number. I wasn’t feeling the dress, but the shoes were smoking hot. She looked good despite not loving her dress.
Performance Value: So far, three performances and Will.I.Am in every one. Can we get rid of this guy? I swear if he comes out with Celine Dion I am turning this show off. It’s over. Nicole sounded pretty decent. I wasn’t loving the song, but the crowd was chair dancing and for the most part it was watchable.

What He Sang: I’m not sure, I’m gonna guess it’s called Heartbreaker (he said it a whole lot)
What He Wore: Let’s see he was wearing a silver, shimmery lounge jacket some tight black pants and white shirt and tie. He was sporting sun glasses, too. I hope he didn’t have pink eye (that was Britney’s excuse).
Performance Value: So, Will wanders along the stage, lifting his leg and checking out the dancers that barely dance and talks about being a heartbreaker. The moves, while comedically entertaining, were not hot. It was amusing though. Otherwise, I am not a huge fan
